Welcome back, thanks for dropping
by.
So, in between issues again. This
time around I spent most of my time writing music for a dance show. Watching
other people move and responding to them with music and sound. Being aware of
my response to certain movements. How I would have a particular kinesthetic
response and what sonic associations would arise from this. Enjoying the voyeurism
of an outsider in rehearsals. And, towards the end of the process, desperately
wanting to be moving with the performers. Knowing the movement and the music
so clearly yet being removed from the physical event. It was an exciting project
to be involved with. Most of the performers were untrained and first time dancers,
their bodies exhibiting physical rawness and readiness for ideas. Full of movement
potential. Immediately after the show finished it was straight into production
for
Finding a similar rawness in this medium. Knowing the form used to construct
and being aware of the potential. Enjoying the words on the page (other peoples
thoughts and news) and playing a part in their broadcast. So what am I talking
about? Not sure, but it's good to get another edition out.
Practical stuff. The upcoming events on the back page are free listings for subscribers only. Also, with advertising rates there is a difference in price for subscribers (getting the picture?). Subscribers also get to take home a warm fuzzy feeling for knowing that they're supporting an independent publication devoted to movement and improvisation practises. Did I mention subscribing? Thanks Stoo for doing the job, thanks Wendy for getting people motivated to write and supply articles, thanks Sarah for the sketch book and thanks everyone who wrote for this edition (a few things didn't quite fit... always a good sign). Thank you to everyone who has subscribed and to the people advertising as well.
needs
more subscribers to continue... so if you haven't
yet, please do, and if you have, tell everyone you know they should. And, most
importantly, please contribute your ideas, articles, information, poems, images,
feedback, donations, food, stories and anything else that you feel you want
to. Take care, dance it out.
